ABOUT THE JAMES A. MICHENER ART MUSEUM
In 1988, the James A. Michener Art Museum opened as an independent, non-profit cultural institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the art and cultural heritage of the Bucks County region. The museum is named for Doylestown’s most famous son, the Pulitzer-Prize winning writer who first dreamed of a regional art museum in the early 1960s. The museum has evolved from a modest facility with a locally derived mission to an accredited world-class facility with a broad vision. A world-class collection of Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings and special exhibitions showcasing a wide range of historical and contemporary work attracting visitors from around the world.
Overview: The Summer Camp Coordinator is a temporary full-time non-exempt position, which provides critical assistance to the Arts Education Manager while coordinating the needs of over 400 students, 12 adjunct faculty, and 40 camp programs and workshops during the summer camp season. The Summer Camp Coordinator assumes much of the programming, administrative, and staffing responsibilities related to the day-to-day operations of summer camp. Working closely with the Arts Education Manager and summer staff, this position will ensure a smooth and successful camp season.
Essential Functions:
Programming
· Consult and collaborate with Arts Education Manager on content, implementation, scheduling, evaluation, and revision of summer and fall course offerings
· Collaborate across departments to support the goals of the Arts Education Manager
· Function as a knowledgeable representative of the Michener's Art Museum’s educational programs
· Serve as a Museum representative for all community members enrolled in Michener programs
Administrative
· Develop, create, and manage reports for all summer art classes and workshops in the Department of Learning & Engagement
· Manage software and registration systems for all camp programs.
· Maintain Master Calendar schedule for all summer camps and events
Marketing
· Engage in marketing efforts as they relate to Summer Camps
· Provide support for publication and website content.
Staffing
· Work closely with adjunct faculty and Museum staff
· Serve as liaison with adjunct faculty; provide program support as needed, including monitoring online correspondence between parents and instructors.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Hourly Compensation: $18 - $20/hour
The anticipated date range will be June 3– August 23, 2024 at 138 South Pine Street, Doylestown, PA. You will be expected to work approximately 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday with flexibility and adjustments due to departmental and personal need subject to final approval from the Arts Education Manager.
